I connect with kids who struggle to use their words because I was like them once.
As a child, I experienced language and articulation delays as well as a stutter, but thanks to several speech therapists I overcame those delays before entering kindergarten.
I can still remember taking a school bus from my daycare to a local elementary school and working one-on-one with a speech therapist in her small, inviting therapy room. We sat at a table together, I followed her prompts, and I always chose the cash register toy as the reward at the end of the session.
To this day, I am more grateful than words can express for receiving speech-language intervention that helped me find my voice.

Sometimes children need extended processing time. When they have the opportunity to take their time and initiate when they are ready the learning is significantly more impactful and generalizes across settings. I want the children I work with to do new, difficult things without prompting – that’s real learning.
Who I Am Outside The Therapy Space
When I’m not in speech therapy sessions, I enjoy home improvement shows, non-fiction audiobooks, relaxing with my cat on the couch, joking with my nephews, and traveling with my husband.
